Call center wallboards

Call center wallboard software: the best options compared

Built-in wallboards from CloudTalk, Aircall, Talkdesk, Dialpad and Five9 against standalone wallboard tools Plecto and Geckoboard: what each one shows, where each falls short, and how to choose for your floor.

The short answer

Written by Plecto. Competitor details reflect each vendor's public positioning; check their sites for current plans and prices.

Call center wallboard software comes in two kinds: the wallboard built into your phone or contact center platform, and standalone tools that combine data from several systems on one screen. The right pick depends on where your data lives and what the floor needs to see:

  • Your phone system's built-in wallboard (CloudTalk, Aircall, Talkdesk, Dialpad, Five9) if you need live queue and agent-state monitoring from a single platform, such as calls waiting, longest wait and agent availability.
  • Plecto if the floor needs phone, helpdesk and CRM KPIs, targets, leaderboards and gamification on one TV. It sits on top of telephony systems like Aircall, CloudTalk, Talkdesk and Dialpad and connects to 150+ systems in total.
  • Geckoboard if you want a simple KPI TV dashboard for a small team, including a ready-made Aircall data source.

Plecto is not a phone system, an ACD or a call router. It is the KPI and wallboard layer that reads data from your phone system, helpdesk and CRM through integrations. For second-by-second queue states, your phone system's own wallboard may be more granular.

What is a call center wallboard?

A call center wallboard is a large screen, usually a wall-mounted TV, that shows live call center metrics such as calls waiting, longest wait, agent availability and service level. It lets supervisors and agents see queue pressure at a glance and react before customers hang up. Wallboards come either built into a phone or contact center platform, or as standalone software that pulls data from several systems.

  • Built-in wallboard: part of your phone or contact center platform. It shows that platform's own data, with the finest detail on live queues and agent states.
  • Standalone wallboard: a separate tool, such as Plecto or Geckoboard, that connects to your phone system, helpdesk, CRM and other sources, so one TV can show calls next to tickets, CSAT and sales.

The best call center wallboard software, reviewed

1. Plecto

Plecto is a performance management platform that turns sales and support data into real-time KPI dashboards, contests and coaching that motivate teams. As call center wallboard software, it works as a KPI layer on top of your phone system, helpdesk and CRM, not as a phone system itself.

  • Best for: contact centers and phone-based sales floors that want calls, tickets, CSAT and conversions on the same TV, with targets and agent motivation built in.
  • Strengths: dashboards, leaderboards and notifications in TV slideshows, with unlimited dashboards and data sources on every plan. Streaming widgets show live calls in queue and call duration, and a table widget can show live agent status (available, busy, offline) for Aircall, Talkdesk, Zendesk Support and a few other systems, see the streaming metrics guide. Achievement badges and instant notifications with sounds, lights and video are on every plan; contests, the Reward Store and the Spinning Wheel are on the Large and Enterprise plans.
  • Limits: Plecto is not an ACD and does not route calls, schedule shifts or replace your phone system. It shows KPIs from the data your integrations sync. Live streaming exists for a handful of systems (Aircall's queue metrics refresh every 5 seconds); other telephony integrations import call history on a schedule, for example every 2 minutes for CloudTalk and every 5 minutes for Dialpad, so your phone system's own wallboard can be more granular for live queue states. Contests, the Reward Store, the Spinning Wheel and reports need the Large or Enterprise plan, and the 10-user minimum can cost more for very small teams.
  • Pricing: Medium from $24 and Large from $37.20 per user per month, billed yearly. Enterprise is custom. 14-day free trial, no credit card required. See pricing.
  • More: contact center dashboards, call center dashboard examples and the TV dashboards guide. Compare with the standalone alternative in Plecto vs Geckoboard.

2. Geckoboard

Geckoboard is KPI dashboard software that shows live business data on TVs and shared dashboards. It positions itself as a faster, lighter alternative to BI tools: it shows what is happening now rather than analyzing what happened.

  • Best for: small teams that want a few live KPIs on an office TV with little setup.
  • Strengths: TV dashboards, sharing to Slack, Microsoft Teams and email, and a library of integrations that includes Aircall, Zendesk, HubSpot and Salesforce, plus an API and spreadsheet support. Its Aircall data source covers calls waiting, longest wait and user availability, and Geckoboard says its queue widgets update within a second or two.
  • Limits: no built-in gamification, contests or coaching, so it shows the numbers but does not motivate agents. Some Aircall duration filters need its Pro plan.
  • Pricing: tiered plans; see vendor.
  • Compare: Plecto vs Geckoboard

3. CloudTalk

CloudTalk is a cloud phone system for sales and support teams with a Wallboards feature inside its Analytics area.

  • Best for: teams already on CloudTalk that want a live, full-screen view without extra software.
  • Strengths: live metrics such as service level, abandonment rate, calls waiting, agents online and average and maximum waiting times, plus Agent Status, Group Status, Active Calls and Calls in Queue tables. Admins can share the wallboard through a public link that can be limited to specific IP addresses.
  • Limits: shows CloudTalk data only, and only admins can set up or edit it, with one shared configuration for the whole company.
  • Pricing: tiered plans; see vendor.
  • Plecto on top: Plecto has a CloudTalk integration that imports call history, so you can add targets, leaderboards and contests, and put helpdesk or CRM KPIs next to CloudTalk calls. It does not replace CloudTalk's live queue tables.

4. Aircall

Aircall is a cloud phone system with Live Monitoring built into the product.

  • Best for: teams on Aircall that want to see calls, users and numbers live inside their phone system.
  • Strengths: live KPIs broken down by calls, users and numbers, service-level tracking, customers waiting and missed calls, filterable by number, user or the whole organization, plus live call coaching for managers.
  • Limits: shows Aircall data only. Check which Aircall plan includes Live Monitoring and how you can put it on a TV.
  • Pricing: tiered plans; see vendor.
  • Plecto on top: Plecto has an Aircall integration with a streaming data source for calls in queue, longest waiting time in queue and employee status, refreshed every 5 seconds. Combine it with CRM or helpdesk data and add contests and notifications. Geckoboard also offers an Aircall data source.

5. Talkdesk

Talkdesk is a cloud contact center platform, and Talkdesk Live is its real-time analytics and dashboard product.

  • Best for: contact centers on Talkdesk that want service-level, wait-time and handle-time dashboards for supervisors.
  • Strengths: pre-built and custom dashboards, a wallboard mode for shared screens, conditional alerts, supervisor monitoring of live calls, and a Live API that sends real-time data to CRM, BI and other systems.
  • Limits: shows Talkdesk data only.
  • Pricing: see vendor.
  • Plecto on top: Plecto has a Talkdesk integration that streams real-time metrics through the Live API, shows live agent status on table widgets and imports call history, so you can add goals, leaderboards and non-Talkdesk KPIs to the same screen.

6. Dialpad

Dialpad is a cloud communications platform with built-in wallboards in its contact center product, Dialpad Support.

  • Best for: teams on Dialpad that want live wallboards and AI call insights without a separate tool.
  • Strengths: built-in wallboards that track hold times, missed calls, average speed to answer, agent status and call volume, with alerts when service levels fall below a threshold you set.
  • Limits: shows Dialpad data only and comes with Dialpad Support rather than as separate software.
  • Pricing: tiered plans; see vendor.
  • Plecto on top: Plecto has a Dialpad integration that imports call data every 5 minutes. It suits leaderboards, TV celebrations and combining Dialpad activity with CRM targets, rather than live queue monitoring.

7. Five9

Five9 is a cloud contact center platform with a browser-based Supervisor Desktop for real-time monitoring.

  • Best for: contact centers on Five9 that handle voice and digital channels and want supervisors to see activity as it happens.
  • Strengths: agent status across channels, queue volume, wait times and campaign status in one view, custom alerts when service levels or KPIs slip, and the option to listen in, coach or step into a call.
  • Limits: shows Five9 data only. Five9's own Supervisor Desktop page does not describe a wallboard, so check what it offers for a floor-facing TV.
  • Pricing: see vendor.
  • Plecto on top: there is no ready-made Plecto integration for Five9. Plecto's API and custom integrations (an Enterprise feature) may be an option, so ask before planning around it.

Also worth checking: NICE CXone documents wallboards for TVs and monitors that require its Performance Management Insights license, and RingCentral has its own Live Reports for phone queues. Plecto has a RingCentral integration.

What should a call center wallboard show?

Keep the main screen to a handful of numbers agents can act on in the next few minutes.

  • Calls in queue (number of waiting calls): how many callers are waiting right now.
  • Longest wait time: the caller who has waited the longest, which rises first when the queue is understaffed.
  • Service level: the share of calls answered within your target time.
  • Answer rate and abandonment (answered calls rate, call abandonment rate): how many callers you reach and how many give up.
  • Average handling time (average call duration): how long agents spend per call.
  • Agent availability: who is available, on a call or away.
  • Customer satisfaction (CSAT): how customers rated the last interactions.
  • Sales or conversions per agent (sales conversion rate, number of won deals): for outbound and phone-based sales floors.

See each of these on a live layout in the call center dashboard examples, or browse the full KPI library.

Call center wallboard software FAQ

It depends on where your data lives. If you only need live queue and agent-state monitoring, the built-in wallboard of your phone or contact center platform, such as CloudTalk, Aircall, Talkdesk, Dialpad or Five9, is usually the most granular option. If the floor needs phone, helpdesk and CRM KPIs, targets and gamification on one TV, a standalone tool fits better: Plecto for motivation and reporting, Geckoboard for a simple KPI screen.

Probably yes. Many cloud phone and contact center platforms include a live view of calls, queues and agent status, for example CloudTalk Wallboards, Aircall Live Monitoring, Talkdesk Live, Dialpad's built-in wallboards and Five9 Supervisor Desktop. Check which plan includes it and whether it can be shown on a TV. If you want to add targets, leaderboards or other systems' KPIs, Plecto can sit on top of your phone system instead of replacing its wallboard.

Yes, that is the main reason to use a standalone wallboard tool. Plecto imports data from telephony systems like Aircall and Talkdesk, helpdesks like Zendesk and CRMs like HubSpot and shows them side by side on one dashboard. A phone system's built-in wallboard shows only that system's data.

Yes, on most smart TVs. A Plecto slideshow runs on a TV by opening tv.plecto.com and entering a four-digit activation code, by installing the Plecto TV app, or by opening a public slideshow URL in any browser. Plecto recommends TVs running Android or LG TVs with webOS 5 or later, built in 2020 or later; for other TVs it lists alternatives such as Chromecast or a Fire TV Stick. See how to activate slideshows on TVs and the TV dashboards guide.

It varies by vendor. Phone-system wallboards come with that vendor's own plans and some are tied to a specific plan or license, so check each vendor for current prices. Plecto charges per user per month on its Medium, Large and Enterprise plans, with a 10-user minimum, 20% off when billed yearly and a 14-day free trial that needs no credit card. See pricing.

Yes, with Plecto. Achievement badges and instant notifications with sounds, lights and video are on every plan, and they can pop up on the wallboard TV when an agent hits a target. Contests, the Reward Store and the Spinning Wheel need the Large or Enterprise plan. See call center gamification for examples.
