Sales performance management software

The best sales performance management software for sales teams

Eight tools for tracking rep KPIs, building sales scorecards and coaching reps, compared on what each does for sales managers and what it leaves to other systems, so you can pick the right sales performance management software for your team.

What are the top sales performance management software tools for sales teams?

Written by Plecto. Competitor details reflect each vendor's public positioning; check their sites for current plans and prices.

Sales performance management software shows every rep's numbers against target, helps managers coach on them, and keeps the team motivated to move them. The best sales performance management software for your team depends on the job you need done first:

  • Plecto if you want real-time KPI dashboards and scorecard-style reports for every rep, plus one-on-ones, performance agreements, quizzes and gamification on the same data, for sales, contact center and support teams. It connects to 150+ systems, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and Aircall.
  • Ambition if structured manager coaching, with scorecards and competitions, is the main goal.
  • LevelEleven if your team lives in Salesforce and wants scorecards, coaching notes and a goal engine around it.
  • SalesScreen or Spinify if you want a sales-only app that mixes performance signals, AI coaching and gamification.
  • Gong or Mindtickle if coaching should start from recorded calls, training content and rep readiness rather than from KPIs.
  • Xactly or CaptivateIQ only if by "sales performance management" you mean commissions and incentive pay. That is a different category, covered in item 8 below.

What is sales performance management software?

The term is used for two different kinds of product, and mixing them up is the most common reason a shortlist goes wrong.

  • Rep performance, KPI scorecards and coaching. The tools in this group read activity and results from your CRM, dialer and other systems, show each rep against target, and give managers the means to coach and motivate. This is what most sales leaders mean when they search for sales performance management software, and it is the focus of this page: Plecto, Ambition, LevelEleven, SalesScreen, Spinify and, from the coaching side, Gong and Mindtickle.
  • Incentive compensation and commissions. The tools in this group calculate commissions, quotas and territories and pay reps correctly. Xactly and CaptivateIQ both describe themselves in this space. They answer "what is each rep owed?", not "how is each rep performing this week and how do I coach them?".

Plecto is in the first group. It is not a commission or compensation tool.

What is a sales scorecard?

A sales scorecard is a one-page view of the KPIs a rep controls, set against targets and refreshed daily or weekly, so rep and manager both see where the gap is before the month ends. The best scorecards mix activity, pipeline and outcome measures, so reps are judged on the work they do and on the results it creates.

The best sales performance management software, reviewed

1. Plecto: sales performance management software with real-time KPI dashboards

Plecto is a performance management platform that turns sales and support data into real-time KPI dashboards, reports, coaching and gamification. It starts from the KPIs, so the rep scorecard, the leaderboard, the one-on-one and the report all run on the same numbers.

  • Best for: sales managers who want one place to see each rep against target, coach on it, and motivate with it. It also suits companies where sales, contact center and support teams all need their own KPIs.
  • Strengths: a scorecard in Plecto is a dashboard or report with each rep's KPIs and targets, built from your CRM, dialer and other systems, on unlimited dashboards and data sources with no limit on TVs. Reports can combine KPIs from several systems, be scheduled to inboxes and exported to PowerPoint or Excel. For coaching there are one-on-ones with reusable templates and logs, confidential performance agreements with a target set per rep, and quizzes. Contests, a Reward Store and notifications use the same KPIs. Most data sources refresh every two minutes, and some telephony streams update live.
  • Limits: Plecto is not a commission or incentive compensation tool, not a heavy BI tool (deep ad-hoc analysis is better in Power BI or Tableau), and not a call-recording or conversation-intelligence product. Reports, one-on-ones, quizzes, contests and the Reward Store are on the Large and Enterprise plans, and the 10-license minimum can cost more for very small teams.
  • Pricing: Medium from $24 and Large from $37.20 per license per month, billed yearly. Enterprise is custom. 14-day free trial, no credit card required. See pricing.
  • More: sales dashboards, sales KPIs and sales gamification software.

2. Ambition: sales coaching and performance management platform

Ambition describes itself as a performance orchestration platform for revenue teams, helping managers coach and sellers execute against the company's sales methods.

  • Best for: revenue, enablement and RevOps leaders who want structured manager coaching at the centre of their sales performance management software.
  • Strengths: coaching cadences for one-on-ones with centralized documentation, an AI notetaker and AI coaching prep, competitions, incentives and workflow alerts, and pipeline risk review. Its pricing page lists activity and objective scorecards, leaderboards and automated accolades on the entry plan, and coaching pre-reads, calendar sync and conversation data on the Pro plan.
  • Limits: it is built around coaching and execution, so teams that only want KPI dashboards on a TV may not need it. AI Insights and AI Actions are paid add-ons, and its home page does not list the systems it connects to.
  • Pricing: published per user per month: Starter $45, Pro $65 and Enterprise $75. AI Insights is $5 and AI Actions $4 per user per month extra.

3. LevelEleven: sales performance management software for Salesforce teams

LevelEleven is Ascent Cloud's sales performance management and gamification product, aimed at helping managers coach consistently and motivate reps.

  • Best for: sales teams on Salesforce that want rep and manager scorecards with coaching built in.
  • Strengths: performance scorecards for reps and a manager scorecard that drills into individual reps, custom formula metrics, a goal engine, coaching notes and templates, a Performance Index that ranks reps and flags coaching needs, competitions, badges and Slack alerts. Its site lists connections to Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Snowflake, Databricks, Qlik and ServiceNow, and a Salesforce AppExchange listing.
  • Limits: it now sits inside the Ascent Cloud suite, and its site shows no telephony integrations, TV display or reward store. No public pricing.

4. SalesScreen: sales performance and gamification platform

SalesScreen is a sales performance and gamification platform that describes "always-on performance management" and uses AI to flag reps drifting off pace.

  • Best for: sales-led teams that want performance signals and gamified motivation on top of CRM data.
  • Strengths: an AI layer that suggests competitions, missions, streaks and rewards for reps who are off pace, and coaching tools that give managers context. Its integrations page lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, SuperOffice, RingCentral, Genesys, LeadDesk, Adversus, Slack and Zapier.
  • Limits: its pricing page lists scorecards and coaching as add-ons on the Scale, Pro and Enterprise plans, not on the Essentials plan, so budget for them on top of the base price. Its home page does not describe scorecards.
  • Compare: Plecto vs SalesScreen and SalesScreen alternatives.

5. Spinify: AI coach and KPI tracking for sales reps

Spinify describes itself as a sales team motivation platform that combines gamification, recognition and AI coaching.

  • Best for: sales teams that want rep progress from live CRM data, competitions and an AI coach with little setup.
  • Strengths: live CRM data shows reps their progress and helps managers spot gaps early, a Metrics and Targets product covers goals, and an AI Coach gives personalized sessions and growth plans with progress tracking. Leaderboards run on TV, web and mobile. Its integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Pipedrive, Salesloft, Outreach, Gong, Slack, Power BI and Tableau.
  • Limits: its home page does not describe manager scorecards, and it is positioned for sales teams first. No public pricing found.
  • Compare: Plecto vs Spinify and Spinify alternatives.

6. Gong: call-based sales coaching

Gong is a revenue platform whose coaching tools start from recorded calls rather than from KPI targets.

  • Best for: sales leaders who want to coach reps on what they say on calls, with managers, reps and peers reviewing the same conversations.
  • Strengths: automatic recording, transcription and analysis of calls, call review without manual note-taking, call sharing for feedback, personalized coaching tips based on your team's best practices, and manager, self and peer coaching. Gong Enable adds AI-based training.
  • Limits: its coaching page does not mention scorecards, so rep KPIs against quota usually still need a dashboard tool next to it. Pricing is quote-based: per-user licenses plus a platform fee.

7. Mindtickle: sales readiness and training for coaching

Mindtickle is a sales readiness platform with coaching, AI role-play and a Readiness Index that benchmarks seller skills and behaviors.

  • Best for: enablement teams that want to link coaching to training content, certification and rep readiness.
  • Strengths: coaching forms and templates, call coaching from AI-powered call insights, AI role-plays, automatic assignment of remedial training, and in-person, virtual, peer and self-coaching.
  • Limits: its coaching page does not mention scorecards, gamification or leaderboards, so live rep KPIs and contests sit in another tool. No public pricing.

8. Xactly and CaptivateIQ: sales performance management software for commissions

If by sales performance management you mean paying reps correctly, look at incentive compensation tools such as Xactly and CaptivateIQ. Xactly describes products for commission and incentive payouts, territory and quota planning, and forecasting. CaptivateIQ's site is titled "Sales Commission Management Software" and positions it across incentives, planning and sales performance management.

  • Best for: finance and RevOps teams that need commission plans, quotas and payouts calculated and shown to sellers.
  • Limits: these are not rep KPI dashboards or coaching tools, and neither publishes prices. Many teams pair one of them with a tool from the list above. Plecto does not calculate commissions.

What to look for in sales performance management software

  • Which kind of sales performance management you need: rep KPIs and coaching, or commissions. Decide before you book demos.
  • Your data sources: a scorecard is only trusted if it reads your CRM and dialer. Check for your exact tools, for example Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Aircall.
  • Targets per rep: ramping reps and veterans should not share a target. Look for per-person targets or agreements.
  • Coaching on the same numbers: one-on-one templates, logs and shared KPIs mean the conversation starts from data, not memory.
  • Automated reports: scheduled scorecards in managers' inboxes save the Monday spreadsheet.
  • Motivation, not only measurement: contests, recognition and rewards on the same KPIs keep reps looking at the scorecard.
  • Price and rollout: some tools publish prices and start in days; suites are quote-based and take longer.

Sales performance management software FAQ

Plecto, Ambition, LevelEleven, SalesScreen and Spinify are the main sales performance management software options for rep KPIs, scorecards and coaching. Plecto suits teams that want real-time KPI dashboards, reports, one-on-ones and gamification on the same data; Ambition leads with manager coaching, LevelEleven is built around Salesforce, and SalesScreen and Spinify add AI signals and gamification. Gong and Mindtickle coach from calls and training content.

The term covers two categories. One is rep performance software: KPI dashboards, scorecards, coaching and motivation, such as Plecto, Ambition and LevelEleven. The other is incentive compensation software that calculates commissions, such as Xactly and CaptivateIQ. Plecto is in the first group and does not calculate commissions.

Ambition and LevelEleven are built around sales coaching and performance management, with coaching cadences or notes next to scorecards. Plecto combines one-on-ones, performance agreements and quizzes with KPI dashboards, on the Large and Enterprise plans for one-on-ones and quizzes. Gong and Mindtickle coach from recorded calls and training content, and SalesScreen sells coaching as an add-on.

Pick a tool that reads your CRM and dialer and shows each rep against target without manual updates. In Plecto, a scorecard is a dashboard or report of rep KPIs and targets, and reports can be scheduled to inboxes and exported to PowerPoint or Excel; reports are on the Large and Enterprise plans. Ambition and LevelEleven list scorecards in their products, and SalesScreen sells scorecards as an add-on.

Plecto, Spinify, SalesScreen and LevelEleven all track rep KPIs from CRM data. Plecto adds unlimited dashboards and data sources, TV slideshows and mobile apps, and most data sources refresh every two minutes. See Plecto sales dashboards and the library of sales KPIs.

For training that sits on the same KPIs as your sales numbers, Plecto runs quizzes, contests, achievements and a Reward Store; quizzes, contests and the Reward Store are on the Large and Enterprise plans. Mindtickle is built for sales readiness with AI role-play, although its coaching page does not mention gamification. Our sales gamification software comparison covers more tools.

A sales scorecard shows each rep's KPIs against targets, such as calls, meetings booked, pipeline created, win rate and revenue against quota, reviewed weekly or monthly. Good scorecards mix activity and outcome measures so managers can coach on the behavior behind the result.

It varies. Plecto charges per license per month with a 10-license minimum: Medium is USD 30 and Large is USD 46.50 per license per month billed monthly, and billing yearly takes 20% off. Reports, one-on-ones and quizzes are on Large and Enterprise, and there is a 14-day free trial. Ambition publishes per-user prices from USD 45 per month, SalesScreen lists scorecards and coaching as add-ons from USD 5 per user per month, and LevelEleven, Gong, Mindtickle, Xactly and CaptivateIQ do not publish prices. See Plecto pricing.
