Recurring Notifications

What is a recurring notification?

A recurring notification is a scheduled notification that repeats on its own. Instead of creating a new notification every time you need the same message sent, you set it up once, choose how often it should repeat, and Plecto keeps sending it.

For example: a Slack message every Monday at 9:00 reminding the team about the weekly meeting, or an email on the first day of every month with last month's results.

Recurring is an option on the Schedule condition, so it works with the same actions as any scheduled notification:

  • Make announcement

  • Push notification

  • Send an email

  • Send a Slack message

  • Send a Microsoft Teams message

How to make a notification repeat

  1. In Plecto, go to Notifications > New notification and add your actions as usual.

  2. Click Next to reach the conditions, then choose Schedule.

  3. Pick the date and time for the first send. The time you choose here is also the time used for every repeat.

  4. Open the Repeat dropdown and choose how often the notification should be sent.

  5. Check the Conditions summary at the bottom, then click Save.

💡 Tip: If you reopen the notification later, your repeat settings are still there, so you can change the interval without rebuilding anything.

Repeat options

  • Does not repeat. The notification is sent once, at the date and time you picked. This is the default.

  • Daily. Sent every day at the chosen time.

  • Weekly. Sent on the weekdays you select, at the chosen time. When you pick Weekly, a row of weekday buttons appears — click Mon to Sun to turn each day on or off. You can select as many days as you like, for example Monday and Friday.

  • Monthly. Sent once a month on the same day of the month as your start date. If your start date is the 8th, the notification is sent on the 8th of every month.

Reading the summary

The Conditions summary at the bottom of the step describes your schedule in plain language, so you can check it before saving. For example:

  • Send a notification every Monday, Friday at 16:00, first notification on Mon 13 Oct

  • Send a notification every month on day 8 at 09:00, first notification on Fri 8 Aug

  • Send a notification once, starting from Tomorrow

If the summary doesn't match what you had in mind, adjust the date, time or repeat interval and it updates right away.

Note: The first notification on date is the first time the notification will actually be sent. With Weekly, this may be later than your start date — if you start on a Wednesday but only selected Monday and Friday, the first send is that Friday.
