How to Create a Streak
How to create a streak
Start from a premade streak in a few clicks, or create a custom streak for full control over what counts and what ends it.
Start from a premade streak:
-
Go to Achievements > Streaks and click New streak.
-
Pick a premade streak: Daily activity, Working days, Registrations in a row, or Weekly activity.
-
Under What keeps the streak going, select the data source or formula the streak counts. Plecto suggests start and end conditions based on your choice. Check them and adjust if needed.
-
Click Create streak.
Premade streaks count for all employees and show after 3 in a row. To rename a premade streak or change who's on it, open it from the Streaks list.
Create a custom streak:
-
Go to Achievements > Streaks, click New streak, and choose Custom streak.
-
Give the streak a Name. Employees see it next to their own name, so keep it short, such as Daily calls.
-
Choose a Streak type. Read more about the types in Introduction to Streaks.
-
Set Show the streak after: how long a run has to be before the badge appears. The minimum is 3.
-
Under What keeps the streak going, choose A data source or A formula, and select which one.
-
(Optional) Add filters to decide which registrations count, such as Status is equal to Won. Click Add filter to add more.
-
(Optional) Under What ends the streak, pick a data source that ends the streak, and add End conditions. Read more below.
-
Under Who is on the streak, choose Employees, Teams, or All employees, and select who takes part. All employees also includes employees added later.
-
(Optional) If you chose Teams, turn on Team streak to count one streak per team instead of one per employee.
-
Check Count from. Registrations dated before this date are never counted. By default, it's the moment you create the streak.
-
Leave Announce on screens on to celebrate milestones on your Home slideshows, and Streak is active on to start counting right away.
-
Read the summary to double-check the setup, then click Create.
Start and end conditions
The filters under What keeps the streak going decide which registrations count. Without anything selected under What ends the streak, the streak type decides when a streak ends:
-
Days, Working days, and Weeks end when a day or week goes by without a registration that meets your conditions. Registrations that don't meet them are ignored.
-
Registrations and Registrations, same day end when a registration doesn't meet your conditions.
Under What ends the streak, you can pick a specific event that ends the streak instead. For example, to count won deals in a row and end the streak when a deal is lost:
-
Under What keeps the streak going, select your CRM deals data source and add the filter Status is equal to Won.
-
Under What ends the streak, select the same data source.
-
Under End conditions, add Status is equal to Lost.
With this setup, a Registrations streak only ends when a deal is lost, so new or updated open deals no longer reset it. A Days, Working days, or Weeks streak ends when a deal is lost, and still also ends when a day or week goes by without a win.
If you pick a data source under What ends the streak without adding end conditions, any registration on it ends the streak.
When a streak ends, the run goes back to zero, but the employee's personal best is kept.
Formula streaks
Choose A formula under What keeps the streak going to count each employee's own formula result per day or week, such as reaching 50 calls a day.
-
Formula streaks work with the Days, Working days, and Weeks streak types.
-
A day or week counts when the result is above zero. Add filters to set a higher bar, such as is greater or equal to 50. For formulas where lower is better, set the bar yourself.
-
The formula's own filters are shown on the streak but can only be changed on the formula.
-
On a team streak, the team's combined result counts.
Manage your streaks
Go to Achievements > Streaks to see all your streaks.
-
See who's on a streak: The On a streak column shows how many employees have a run long enough to show right now. Click the number to see each person's current run, personal best, and when it last counted.
-
Reorder streaks: Drag a row to reorder the list. If an employee is on several streaks at once, leaderboards and tables show the first three from this list.
-
Disable a streak: Click Disable in the Actions menu to stop counting. Everyone keeps their current run, but for Days, Working days, and Weeks, the time a streak is disabled counts as a missed day or week.
-
Delete a streak: Click Delete in the Actions menu. Everyone loses their current run and personal record for the streak, and this can't be undone.
Build notifications on streaks
Plecto records streak progress in a built-in Streaks data source with the fields Streak, Current, Best, and Team streak. A row is added once a run is long enough to show.
Use it to create notifications, for example, a Slack message when someone's streak reaches 20 (Current is equal to 20). Notifications on the Streaks data source can't give coins or achievements, or spin the wheel.
Good to know
-
Streaks count registrations as they come in. Registrations from before the streak was created aren't counted, so everyone starts at zero.
-
Days follow your organization's time zone, and weeks run from Monday to Sunday.
-
Working days skip Saturdays and Sundays. Holidays and absence aren't taken into account.
-
Turning Team streak on or off resets everyone's current runs.
-
If you delete the data source or formula a streak counts, the streak is deleted too.
