The Challenge
How do a couple of young CS agents manage a team with an employee turnover of 2-3 years and whose average age is 22? This is the very situation faced by Søren Alexandersen and Benjamin Møller, both backoffice CS agents at Aller Media Denmark.
Managing customer expectations at one of Denmark’s largest newspaper and media publishers with a Gen Z team sounds like a tall order. But Søren and Ben—who started as temp workers and progressed through the company ranks—have obtained a wealth of experience and know exactly what makes their young employees tick.
Aller Media has used Plecto since 2018, well before Søren and Ben took on their current positions. For most of this time, Plecto was running on autopilot, showing only the raw sales numbers. None of Plecto’s visualization or gamification features were engaged with, leaving much of its motivational potential unused.
But this changed when Søren and Ben were promoted to their current roles—Søren in 2021, and Ben in 2024. Since that point, Plecto’s full capabilities have been unlocked.
“In my time as a backoffice agent, there has always been some form of gamification,” Ben says. “It has however improved over time, and we have been using it a whole lot more, because it is easy to use for us (in backoffice) and fun for the agents who can compete with each other.”
“I think Plecto had been integrated most of the time, and we always had a slideshow that we showed,” Søren adds. “But I think now for a couple of years we’ve used it a bit more, and gotten more dashboards up, and really know how to use it in the best way possible.”
In short, the duo took what was once a neglected tool running in the background, and brought it front-and-center to motivate Aller Media’s sales and CS teams.
“I pretty clearly remember when we switched into more competitions,” Søren says. “For example, the coins were added while I was still on the phone. I thought that was really fun, just because it adds something different to what you're used to. You can make competitions out of whatever. It's just fun to have these helping hands for us in our role now.”

The Solution
Flash-forward to the present, and Plecto has become fully integrated into Aller Media’s team culture, an essential motivational visualization tool.
“We have one that's our main dashboard, which shows in real time today’s sales, save rate, and the number of calls each agent has taken. That's one we look at every time. It gives a good view of all the KPIs that need to be handled,” Søren says.
The dashboards also reflect the diversity of skills the young agents bring to the workplace. “We have some different profiles here,” Søren says. “Some are definitely better at selling. They also do outbound calls. And for that, we have another dashboard, which is only for those people who are going for these outgoing calls.
“Then we also have the whole group, with the salespeople also in it. So you could definitely work here without having a sales profile. We are just kind of targeting those who have a sales profile, because we like to get new customers as well.”
There’s no performance without motivation. Gen Z in particular is motivated by immediate “hits” that serve as immediate feedback to completed tasks. At Aller Media, Plecto’s gamification features have proven a perfect match for this youthful energy—especially when the prizes are considered.
“They like candy. So a lot of that,” Ben says. “Otherwise, we have some options to give a day off or just spare half an hour, an hour or so, little ranging from different things. For our last competition, we had a puzzle game that they built up in customer service. That was pretty fun!”
Søren and Ben have developed a complete system of coin earning that employees can redeem for rewards. In addition, there’s what the duo calls the “Lucky Wheel”—Plecto’s Spinning Wheel feature.
“We have the Lucky Wheel that you can spin for achieving a milestone,” Ben says. “So if you have made three sales, you get an automatic wheel spin where you can win coins—or just win nothing, which is a bummer, but it happens sometimes.”
There can also be penalties for landing on the wrong space: “Do a task—for example, who is going to go to the shopping center and get snacks for everyone!” Ben says.
With the stakes so high and competition undoubtedly intense, how do Søren and Ben manage to keep the gameplay healthy?
“I feel we are very fair when we play,” Ben says. “And the main target for us, of course, is sales. But personally, it’s also important to keep it fun, so everyone involved thinks it's fun to do these things.
“We also do extra things for bonus points, such as Jeopardy and the Lucky Wheel, so everyone can get some bonus points, just to keep it more light. Then there's not so much pressure or maybe people don't feel like, Oh, but this wasn't fair.”
Finally, Søren and Ben use other Plecto features to boost workplace motivation and morale—such as personalized video notifications, and virtual trophies when an employee hits 50 sales. Competitions and campaigns also have seasonal themes for an extra boost of fun, such as the 2026 World Cup or Mother’s Day.

The Results
Beyond an emboldened and exciting team culture, Søren and Ben are proud to put some real numbers to their Plecto use.
“Last year (2025) we had a Mother's Day campaign where we did not really do a competition out of it. We did this year, we made a big old competition,” Ben says. “I'm not sure it's exactly just because of that, but we doubled the sales numbers in one year in customer service.”
And just what were these numbers?
“For the 2025 customer service campaign, we had a revenue of 370,000 DKK (€49.5K), and it was doubled this year. So 760,000 DKK (€101.6K).”
With such powerful results helped along by Plecto contests, what would it look like for the team if Plecto disappeared? Søren doesn’t miss a beat in responding.
“That would suck,” he says. “We use it every single day. I don't think we go a day without looking at it, and it is also essential for all our all our stats for customer service.
“You would lose a lot of motivation as well, because agents wouldn’t be able to see their stats, and you would just say No, it doesn't really matter if I make a sale, or if I just say to the customer session, Can I just cancel? I don't care because I can't really see it on the stats. So motivation-wise and KPI tracking-wise, it's also going to suck a lot.”
The duo agrees: Plecto is a powerful tool to unlock creativity across generations, an exciting means to bring fun—and revenue—to any office.
“Whether you're a good tech guy or not, Plecto is very easy to use,” Søren says. “It's very intuitive and you can do basically everything in it. So whenever we have an idea, you can make it possible in Plecto, and that's very nice.
“Plecto makes your day easier just all around. I think especially in our roles, it's something we use every day. I could not imagine not using it!
