Easy guide on how to use Zapier and Plecto together to create a friendly reminder for lunch breaks. Maintain the office routine also from home to keep your team active and engaged.
This example will create a lunch notification that triggers daily in Plecto at a set time.
Step-by-step guide
1. Create a "Custom Input" data source in Plecto
This data source will be used to store the registrations sent from Zapier, which will be triggering the lunch reminder.
In short, whenever a new registration gets created in this data source, a notification will trigger reminding you to take your lunch break.
You can create a "Custom Input" data source directly from this link.
2. Create a Zap that's based on "Schedule by Zapier"

Create a new Zap and choose "Schedule by Zapier" under "Choose App".
Select how often you'd like to trigger a notification in Plecto. For this example, we will choose "Every day" under "Choose Trigger Event".
3. Configure when the notification should be triggered

Select when the notification should be triggered in Plecto. You can customize it as much as you want! For instance, excluding weekends or selecting the specific time of the day you want the notification to trigger.
We will choose "No" for triggering on weekends and "Noon" as the hour of the day, as we'd like it to pop up at this time during workdays 😄
Proceed by clicking "Continue" and hereafter "Test & Continue".
4. Select "Plecto" as the "Do this .." event

Find and select Plecto under "Choose App & Event".
Click "Continue" and make sure you connect your Plecto account to Zapier.
5. Configure the Plecto Zap

Enter "Zapier" as Integration Name, User ID and User Name.
Select the data source you created in step 1 as "Data source".
Enter the "ID"-field as Date and External ID. This can be done by clicking the empty field below Date or External ID, from which you can select it from the drop-down menu.
Click "Continue" followed by "Test & Continue" to test your Zap.
If everything works, you can turn on your Zap and do the final configurations in Plecto 😎
6. Set up the notification in Plecto

Create a notification in Plecto and easily configure it, as shown in the image above.
Make sure to trigger the notification based on the employee created by Zapier called "Zapier". You can click "Choose employees" next to "Enabled for teams" to allow you to choose employees instead of teams.
Create a notification event that plays a sound on a slideshow:

This is the part where you can be creative and personalize the message and the sound in the notification for your team. Make it fun! 🎨
Finish with "Save" at the bottom of the screen.

That's it! You've now created a notification that will pop up automatically in Plecto at the time you've chosen in your Zap.
Now that you know how to create this easy and fun notifications, there are endless options you can use this for! To remember your team to stand up, get some fresh air, end of the shift or simply to remind them that they are doing great. Only you set the limits!
